A completely restored 1920s hotel in the heart of Bayamo is about to open its doors and shine as the city's newest boutique gem. As it readies to welcome guests, the renewed Hotel Telegrafo has joined the portfolio of the Hoteles Encanto chain (abbreviated "E") and will become a reference point in the city. Also in Bayamo, a new cultural dining space called La Filarmonica has just opened its doors, specialising in international and local fare.
A new documentary on Cuba in IMAX format will be coming to the big screens early next year. This won’t be just another documentary on the island as its vivid 3D graphics will take the audience on a unique immersive journey along Cuba, across breathtaking landscapes, beachscapes and cityscapes. From pristine coral reefs to intoxicating music and spellbinding dancing, viewers will get to see the island through the unique lens of Cuban themselves - artists, scientists and historians. Speaking at a tourism event held in Milan last Friday, Cuba's Minister of Tourism, Manuel Marrero Cruz said that as of last Saturday Cuba would have welcomed 4 million tourists so far this year, adding that he expected to close the year with the arrival of some 750,000 more. This year 4 million tourist mark has been reached four days later than in 2017, possibly due to a mixed number of factors, including Trump's smear campaign and the scaremongering surrounding mysterious sonic attacks.
