The town's top scuba diving outfit is undoubtedly Barracuda Diving Centre who offer an extensive range of courses for both first timers and seasoned veterans alike.

With a rich ecosystem supporting a staggering array of marine life, the waters surrounding Varadero are ripe for exploring. Naturally, scuba diving in this region is hugely popular and Barracuda Diving Centre is the town’s biggest scuba diving facility.

Located on Varadero Beach next to Cuatro Palmas Hotel, this highly professional and tourist-friendly centre has an experienced team of instructors that cater for all levels of proficiency in the water. From hesitant first-timers to advanced divers looking to progress their skills, there are an extensive range of packages to choose from.

Barraccuda Diving Centre makes use of 30 separate dive sites with depths ranging between 4-30 metres and an ocean coverage of 40 miles. In this vast territory, your guides will help you keep a look out for the region’s stunning range of marine life, which includes stingrays, nurse sharks, mantas, turtles, moray eels, tuna and parrotfish. The surrounding waters are also home to beautiful coral reefs, caves, tunnels and wrecks.

Learn to dive

For the beginner, the centre offers introductory resort courses for $70 CUC while their standard dive works out at $50 CUC, which includes all of your equipment. The more experienced and fearless might be tempted to try a spot of cave diving ($60 CUC) or night diving ($55 CUC). Advanced options such as ACUC (American Canadian Underwater Certifications) are also available, but anyone who just fancies a spot of snorkelling can head out with a guide for $30 CUC.

The centre is staffed by a team of 19 diving instructors and can take out up to 70 divers each day. It also boasts impressive facilities including a practice pool and a recently added recompression facility. There’s also an on-site seafood restaurant (Barracuda Grill) which is a great spot to kick back and enjoy a spot of lunch or dinner after an exerting day out in the water.

For anyone looking to take up the opportunity to go diving while in Varadero, Barraccuda Diving Centre is a highly professional, well-run operation that will ensure you have the best experience possible.
