I'm a globe-trotting chameleon from London with a long background in journalism and a degree in literature and the developing world. As happy under water as in a dusty bookstore; I love snow and ice as much as sun and sand; live music and dancing as much as meditating and the natural world. I'd been fascinated with Cuba for a long time and fell in love with Havana on my very first night in the city strolling the Malecon at sunset, meeting legendary band Buena Vista Social Club and joining the wonderful Habaneros in the midnight Mayday parade to Revolution Square. Although I've yet to explore the whole island, it's sealed its place in my top five world destinations – not only beautiful, sultry and unique but vibrant, colourful and full of rebel spirit.
