I am a woman born in Havana, Cuba, and I am 36 years old at the time of first starting to write this blog, but this will be changing overtime… I mean… age-wise, because I hope the rest will not.

I graduated as a Sociologist from the University of Havana, and I've been working in the film industry for quite a long time. I love it, but what really moves me is experiencing the simple pleasures of life: visiting and tasting new places. There is a very popular Spanish saying that roughly translates into English as "The quickest way to a person's heart is through their stomach", and I do agree: you fall in love with a place and with all its flavours.

On my relentless quest for finding new culinary delights, I often go out to have something to eat or drink (or both, which I prefer). I am very hard to please, even more so now after my many trips abroad –my other great passion is travelling - which have allowed me to expand my culinary horizons and taste new flavours, experience unknown fusions, sip new drinks and savour the flavours that I already knew well, but with different twists.

When the boom of new private restaurants, bars and cafeterias took off in Cuba at the start of 2012, I began to assess them, finding great joy in it and doing it like game almost -although I was very strict regarding my criteria- and together, me and my partner rated all the places we visited. One day I decided to turn these visits into a more serious exercise… and this is where we are now with this blog.

Forget McDonalds or KFC - Las Chucherias is Cuba's first (and best) private fast food chain

There are two cafeterias in Havana, one in Vedado and the other in Miramar, where you can enjoy light meals, snacks and even breakfast. The two stand out for the quality of the food offering, their location and their prompt service. Definitely, one of the best places in the city to take your children out for a bite, especially if it needs to be a quick one.
