If you happen to be in Varadero or plan to stay there for some time, I definitely recommend you pop in at The Beatles Bar and Restaurant at least one night; you'll love its great atmosphere and pleasant surprises.
Every time I travel to Varadero I never fail to drop by this But older visitors can also have a great time evening venue to revel in its gastronomic and musical delights, both designed to feed on the longing many people feel for this bygone musical era, reviving memories of a time that for many people was, and still is special.
By the way, it's no secret to no one in Cuba that for years, The Beatles' music wasn't played on any Cuban radio station or TV channel; but despite this people still listened to their songs under the radar, from their homes, at house parties or borrowing friends' vinyl records or cassettes; so this British group has always had a legion of fans in the island. A few decades on and now we're fortunate enough to finally have a place dedicated to these famous musicians in Varadero; Cuba's premier beach resort.

Found on the corner of 1st Ave. and 59th St., in close proximity to the Cuatro Palmas hotel and Retiro Josone Park; The Beatles Bar and Restaurant, right from its opening on May 10th, 2013 has quickly become one of Varadero's most popular nightlife hotspots, frequented by young crowds and lovers of classical rock music in English. In it you will have the opportunity to enjoy the frequent live performance of some of the island's best rock bands.
Now, in case you happen to be in Havana and are a true Beatles fan, you surely wouldn't like to miss out on listening to one of our Cuban versions of their songs. So; let me tell you that The Beatles Bar and Restaurant is not the only place in Cuba paying homage to this legendary rock band. Right at the heart of Havana's Vedado neighbourhood you will find El Submarino Amarillo (The Yellow Submarine), located on the corners of 17th and 6th streets and also being a tribute to them.
The creation of this outstanding cultural and recreational centre, was inspired by John Lennon, whose bronze statue is found in a park very near this nightclub's location, also named after him. In El Submarino Amarillo you'll find fine covers of The Beatles; or of other bands like Pink Floyd, Guns n' Roses, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones and others.
I myself haven't been to El Submarino Amarillo yet, so I can't give you my personal opinion on it, but if there's something I really like about The Beatles Bar and Restaurant in Varadero; which is open Monday through Sunday, it's the outdoor concerts with the salty sea breeze blowing in from the beach.
Every night between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. you can enjoy the live performances of three popular Cuban bands as they take to the stage: Kimera, Blues Connections and Sound Blast Profile. All three play rock, and rock n' roll music. The place can fill up so much at times that the partying may extend all the way towards to 1st Ave.
What else does this bar offers?
The cocktails "Alexander" and "Godfather" are firm favourites among the crowd of casual dressers like myself, who come to this place for a re-encounter with the music of the 70s, the 80s and the 90s.
At night, only the bar is open, but during the day you can enjoy the variety of dishes on offer. In my opinion, this is the best place in Varadero for enjoying tapas. The lobster brochettes are among my favourites! The prices for cocktails and tapas oscillate between 3 and 13 CUC.
The Beatles Sculptures
Aside from the musical entertainment and gastronomic offers, I always admire the four ferro-cement statues immortalising the members of the famous 60s British group. Sculpted by a Cuban team of artists led by sculptor Silvio Perez Carralero, these full-size statues placed outside the bar-restaurant depict The Beatles interpreting their famous song "Hey Jude".
This entertainment venue which would benefit tremendously from a more active promotion by the tourist agencies; offers you the perfect night for rock n' rolling while downing delicious drinks within a Beatlemania atmosphere. I definitely recommend you not to miss the opportunity to drop by The Beatles Bar and Restaurant in Varadero, and take some photos posing next to them.
