Buena Vista Social Club

The world-famous Buena Vista Social Club set the world alight in the 1930s with its signature brand of Latin American music. Its successful revival means that you too can experience Havana's true soul musicians - it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Immerse yourself in the lively rhythms of traditional Cuban music with Havana's world-famous musicians.

Visiting Cuba is like setting foot in a time capsule of the Americas in the 1950s, and what better way to bring to life the charming heyday of yesteryear than to take a night out to see the Buena Vista Social Club perform?

The Buena Vista Social Club was a members' group that got together to play in various locations of Havana before the revolution, and their music was hugely popular around the world during the 1930s. Fast forward to 1998, when a German film-maker decided to capture a live ensemble performance of traditional Cuban musicians and some veterans from the original club. His documentary made from the live ensemble performance was nominated for an Academy Award, and both the film and album of the live recording have sparked a huge revival of interest in all types of Latin American music.

The Buena Vista Social Club experience begins with you being picked up from your hotel for a late afternoon ride in one of Havana's many iconic vintage cars. Enjoy the feeling of being in a perfectly preserved 1950s Chevrolet, Buick or Plymouth as you take in the sights and sounds of the beautiful beach resort town of Varadero, before stopping to dine on mouth-watering Cuban cuisine (which is a fusion of Spanish, African, Caribbean and Native American Taino food).

After dinner, you will be taken to the cabaret, where you will be able to see the famous singers and performers of "Son de Cuba" play a live concert. Their performance features intoxicating traditional Cuban music that perfectly blends elements of Spanish guitar and African rhythms with jazz, soul, hip hop and dub influences.

Whether you just want to chill with a cocktail or dance the night away with your significant other, no visit to Cuba is complete without seeing some of Havana's acclaimed and beloved musicians in person.
