Tropicana Matanzas - a Paradise Under the Stars
Enjoy an evening of Cuban music, song and dance under the stars in Matanzas
The third of three successful venues in the Tropicana family, Tropicana Matanzas follows Tropicana Havana and Tropicana Santiago de Cuba in delivering a high standard of cabaret entertainment to masses of tourists every year.
Situated a few kilometres and about a 20 minute drive from the popular resort of Varadero, Tropicana Matanzas sits on the left bank of the Canimar River, making the setting as stunning as the show itself. The clam shell style stage and performance area can accommodate up to 200 dancers at any one time, making this venue larger than its sisters in Havana and Santiago de Cuba.
The venue is almost as famous as the show itself. Called 'paradise under the stars', this open air theatre features an impressive 18 m x 11 m stained glass window created by Cuban artist, Ernesto Garcia Pena, and beautiful wrought iron railings by Luciano Rafar. The audience is seated at tables around the stage, creating a truly social experience.
The setting by the river is stunning, and the huge venue is impressive, but it's the show that has brought thousands of visitors to Tropicana Matanzas. 90 minutes of cabaret, including dancing, drumming, music and song, with plenty of flesh on show, is followed by the opportunity to take to the dancefloor yourself and while the night away under the stars. The theatre can hold up to 400 in the audience, with up to 200 performers on stage, so you can expect a wild night.
The technical elements of the show are flawless. It's a case of 'lights, feathers, action!' with the most colourful, sparkly, glamorous costumes, amazing light displays and fantastic sound engineering.
This excursion is a complete night out, with the opportunity to make use of a snack bar, cafeteria and souvenir shops on site. The evening provides a truly unforgettable experience and the opportunity to take home a keepsake.
