This hotel offers a calm, tranquil oasis right in the historic heart of the city of Havana. Located close to Plaza Vieja (Old Square) and Plaza de San Francisco de Asis, the hotel is ideally situated for easy access to the attractions of Old Havana. From the Raquel Hotel you can quickly reach many museums, galleries, bars and restaurants of the old town, reflecting the richness of Cuban culture. Alternatively, you can simply enjoy walking the historic cobblestone streets and squares of this historic location.

  • Art nouveau inspired boutique hotel near plaza vieja Raquel was inspired by art nouveau design and is well located in Old havana, close to the lovely Plaza Vieja and within walking distance of the city's many attractions.
  • Romantic ambience with the roof top terrace the roof top terrace is a perfect place to enjoy a cocktail and admire the views.
  • Jewish tradition and faith is recognised References to the Jewish faith are everywhere, with a stone carved star of david in the reception, mezuzahs fixed to many of the guest room doors and the elegant restaurant which serves typical jewish cuisine.

This small hotel, with its art nouveau interior and a baroque facade, is undoubtedly an architectural treasure and delight in its own right. A wonderful and distinctive feature of the Raquel Hotel is the colourful, exquisitely constructed stained glass roof, which allows golden sunlight to cascade through the building's stunning atrium and down to the lobby below. As the light interacts with the balconies, the soaring marble columns and the stained glass mamparas (screens), it creates a peaceful, welcoming atmosphere within.

Admiring the beautiful architecture and luxurious comfort of the Raquel Hotel, it can be hard to imagine that when it was originally constructed in 1908 it was a storage warehouse for textiles. Today, the hotel preserves references to Jewish culture, including paintings with biblical themes created by well known contemporary Cuban artists. The hotel serves authentic Jewish cuisine, and aptly so as its name of Hebrew heritage ‘Raquel’ also pays homage to Jewish culture.

Take the wrought iron elevator up to the roof level, and the hotel has yet more surprises in store. An ornate, golden-topped dome is a perfect location for a romantic dinner. Guests can also enjoy a drink at the hotel's rooftop terrace bar, or simply take in the panoramic views across the iconic city of Havana.

The hotel is also home to a restaurant, lobby bar and coffee shop. Room service and a money exchange are also available, and the reception desk is open 24 hours a day.

At the Raquel Hotel, as in hotels all across Cuba, guests are treated just like visiting members of the family. Hotel staff are helpful and attentive, and they work hard to ensure that every guest has an enjoyable stay.
