Travel to Cuba hotter than ever for Americans as sevenfold spike in visitor numbers predicted by 2025
Despite recent articles advocating the contrary, travel to Cuba by Americans isn’t already waning, far from it, in fact; at least according to a new study, whose findings reveal that Cuba travel is still very much hot for U.S. visitors. Not only that, the study also predicts that Americans could flood the island by 2025, as the number of U.S. travellers is expected to increase seven times the current amount.
Two U.S airlines have recently seized an opportunity to operate further services between the United States and Cuba. American and Southwest airlines grabbed flights that were cancelled by low-cost air carriers Spirit and Frontier due to weak demand. The airlines have both requested an additional daily service to Cuba by filings with the Department of Transportation, but they will have to compete against Delta and JetBlue for the spots.
InsightCuba has revealed Masala Expeditions, its new small ship cruise brand that will offer sailings to destinations across the world. The tour company is famous for its travel itineraries to Cuba, and it will now offer six small ship cruises that will provide people-to-people experiences to Greece, Portugal, Spain, Dubai, the Seychelles, Kenya, Iceland and Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast.
US cruise firm Azamara has added a further four trips to its 2018 brochures, bringing the total number of itineraries to six, with options for multiple overnights in Havana, and combining Cuba with Panama and Costa Rica, or Grand Cayman.
Las week, during the celebration of FitCuba 2017, Cuba showcased its best tourism assets to the world and formed new commercial ties with foreign companies for the management of hotels and the development of golf courses. As a result, several contracts were signed between the island and hoteliers such as Spanish hotel chains Melia and Iberostar, while a letter of intent was signed between Cubagolf and German and Chinese companies for the development of new golf complexes across the country.
