Cuba has long been seen as one of the planet's foremost classical superpowers, but in 2017 this reputation has grown exponentially with major events attracting the attention of the world. The grand finale is about to take place, which looks set to round off an epic year of aural culture on the island.
Renowned magazine, National Geographic just honoured Cuba by placing three of the island’s sun and sand settings in its list of the world’s 31 most amazing beaches. The three privileged destinations were Sirena, Lindamar and Paraiso, all located in the secluded and breath-taking key of Cayo Santa Maria.
A recent article in Canadian publication The Globe and Mail lauds Cuban locations such as the Gran Hotel Kempinski Manzana, the Gran Teatro Cafe, plazas de Armas, Catedral, and Vieja, and recommends a classic car tour of the islands. Tourists who are wondering what they can do within hours of stepping off the plane in Cuba's vibrant capital need wonder no more.
While questions remain about the future of travel between the United States and Cuba, cruises to the island—which are allowed under government regulations—are doing a brisk business. Royal Caribbean is boosting its travel to Cuba, offering more cruises, new destinations, and more shore excursions.
After reporting successful operations in Cuba during their first twelve months in the island, U.S. carrier Delta airlines reflects on a good year of business and the possibility of adding new routes. During a recent press encounter, one of Delta’s directives spoke of the “satisfactory” figures achieved in 2017, the growth in demand for some of their routes and how they would navigate Trump’s latest travel-related Cuba restrictions, which had failed to negatively impact ticket sales so far.
