Rock legend Ozzy Osbourne and son Jack are in Cuba to film History Channel documentary

Notorious rocker and reality TV star Ozzy Osbourne and his son Jack landed in Cuba last weekend on a private visit that will extend to nearly a week. During said visit they will be partly touring around historic sites and attractions as well as shooting footage for a new History Channel programme that will star them as "a father and son spoof on history". So far they haven't wasted a minute of their Cuba holiday with Jack documenting the trip by uploading several Instagram posts with images of their adventure in Havana.

The British lead singer from the legendary heavy metal band, Black Sabbath, is in Cuba with his son as part of a private holiday that is as much recreational as it is professional, as they are allegedly also taking time off their visit to film some shootage for his family’s newest TV venture; a documentary series that will air on History Channel.

Having landed in Havana this last weekend, the Osbournes first trip abroad of 2016 has a decidedly Cuban flavour and according to official sources from Cuban state-run newspaper Granma, they will linger in the island for nearly a week, touring around the cultural attractions of Old Havana and immersing in the local history and traditions.

The news of their presence in Cuba’s capital were first published on Granma but Ozzy’s travelling partner and son, Jack Osbourne didn’t take long to document their trip via a series of Instagram posts with photographs of some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the Cathedral of Havana and Plaza de Armas (which Jack accidentally misspelled as "Plaza Armor"), a somewhat blurry artistic shot of a leafy path which he described as “Hemmingway’s walk way”, a grinning shot of himself and his dad in which both donned a Cuban straw hat while Jack playfully bit on a cigar and a picture of both of them standing next to an old Chevy against the background of anti-aircraft weapons and air missiles at La Cabaña fortress.

Jack, who shot to fame when the popular reality TV show “The Osbournes” which starred his family and aired in the early 2000s makes it back to the small screen with this new film project, which apparently stems from his father’s well-documented obsession with the History Channel and which Ozzy himself has described as “a father and son spoof on history”.

For this new History Channel TV programme the duo have already toured sites like the Alamo (where the 67-year-old rockery was once famously arrested for public urination) and Roswell, N.M. to dig into some extra-terrestrial culture. Speaking about this latest TV venture during a recent Billboard interview, Ozzy said:

"We went to Stonehenge and met a guy who thinks he’s the f–king reincarnation of King Arthur. And we went to Bletchley Park to see the machine [Alan Turing] used to break the [German] code. We’re going to Mount Rushmore, to the abandoned silos where America used to have their Minutemen missiles and all that. It’s educational for me, actually — history with an Osbourne slant."

Following in the footsteps of yet another British rock legend (Rolling Stones' leading singer) who made it to the island last year and also filmed a documentary, in this case for the BBC, Ozzy Osbourne is never one to be left behind and quickly caught on the trend now that Cuba is definitely in vogue.

This recent (and as of now still ongoing) visit of two of the Osbournes marks the latest of international rock stars and celebrities hitting Cuba and the first of 2016. Last year saw a good line-up of big showbiz personalities visiting the island; from other legendary rockers like Mick Jagger (who was also accompanied by with his son) and all band members of The Dead Daisies (who also performed there) to pop singers like Rihanna, Katy Perry and Usher.
