It’s official now, The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall have arrived in Cuba and are currently enjoying their second day in the biggest of all Caribbean islands. We’ve done some digging to find out more details about what they’ll be getting up to during their time in Havana and we learnt that they’re going beyond the capital to explore the new coastal Mariel development.
During his 12-day Caribbean tour, HRH Prince Charles will be making a stop in Cuba on 24th March as part of an official visit to strengthen bilateral cultural ties and discuss trade and climate change. The visit follows Prince Charles private meeting in London with Cuba´s new president Miguel Diaz-Canel last November and will mark a historical momentum between the two countries following the UK’s imminent departure from the European Union.
NexusTours, one of the largest tour operators in Cuba, recently added Cienfuegos to its impressive list of destinations on the island. The company brings travellers to Cuba from Canada, Europe and Latin America, and includes the major cities in Cuba in its itineraries.
Cubas’ non-hotel hospitality sector celebrates Havana’s 500th anniversary with upgrades and new tours
Cubasol, the business entity that groups several non-hotel hospitality companies overseen by Cuba´s Ministry of Tourism, announced that in the new year it´ll be carrying out a series of works to improve the image of several facilities across Havana on the occasion of its upcoming 500th birthday in November. Grouping a number of retail shops, grocery stores as well as restaurants and bars, Cubasol wants to mark such an important milestone anniversary in style.
Two Havana jewels from the late 1950s considered the cry of fashion and height of luxury back in their heyday, are to receive a major makeover as part of a millionaire investment programme. The Hotel Habana Riviera and Tryp Hotel Habana Libre (formerly the Havana Hilton at the time of its opening) will benefit from a major overhaul to their premises, following some incomplete refurbishment efforts that didn’t have the impact desired.
